Meet Louise: Our New Designer

We’re thrilled to introduce Louise, our newest designer who brings a blend of menswear expertise and a passion for sustainable practices to the team. With a career spanning design and product development for major brands, Louise is set to make a significant contribution to our innovative workwear solutions.

From Guangzhou to ICW: A journey in design

Louise’s career journey has taken her across the globe, starting with a 7-month stint as a designer in Guangzhou, China. Since then, her focus has been firmly rooted in menswear, honing her skills in design and product development at Dewhirst Ltd., where she designed for renowned brands like Next, River Island, and Reserved. Her experience encompasses both formal and casual wear, giving her a versatile perspective on garment construction and style.

A perfect fit: Joining the ICW family

For Louise, the role at ICW was a perfect opportunity to combine her passion for design with a desire to put down some permanent roots. “After living in different locations away from my family, I wanted to move closer to them,” Louise explains. “I still wanted to be in the design industry, so when the job role came up it was perfect timing! It means that I can experience a different side of the industry and grow my skills within design.” She was also drawn to the chance to explore a different facet of the industry and further develop her design skills.

First impressions: A welcoming and innovative environment

Having been with ICW for a week, Louise is already impressed with the team’s collaborative spirit. “It’s a friendly environment and everyone is happy to help/point you in the right direction,” she says. “I know I’m going to settle in well here.”

Louise is also excited by ICW’s forward-thinking approach. “I think the innovation and technology within ICW makes it stand out, particularly the automated robot warehouse which just blew my mind!” she notes. “It’s exciting to see what is happening now and to think of what the future holds for the company.”

Sustainability: A core focus for the future

With sustainability always top of mind in the fashion world, we were eager to know Louise’s perspective on this vital topic. “Sustainability is the core focus for the industry as a whole,” she emphasises. “Everything from the materials, production, longevity and transparency is key to achieving this.”

Louise sees a promising future for sustainable practices, particularly with consumers actively seeking eco-friendly options like BCI cotton, Eco Vero/Lenzing Viscose, and recycled polyester. “The key is following up on new innovations and proactively introducing new options that are relevant for customers,” she asserts. As we continue our sustainability journey and path to net zero as part of Workwear Uniform Group, we’re excited to see Louise’s contributions in this area.

Beyond the workplace: Travel, family, and green fingers

When she’s not immersed in the world of design, Louise enjoys travelling. Recalling her solo trip to Indonesia last year, where she swam with turtles and manta rays, she shares her adventurous spirit. This year, Vietnam is on her travel bucket list.

Family is also a significant part of Louise’s life. Being closer to home means she can spend more time with her nephew and goddaughters, watching them grow up.

And finally, Louise revealed a surprising hidden talent: she has a knack for reviving plants that are seemingly beyond hope!

We’re delighted to welcome Louise to ICW and look forward to the fresh perspectives and innovative ideas she will bring. Her passion for design, commitment to sustainability, and wealth of experience make her a valuable member of the team. Stay tuned to see the exciting work she’ll be creating!
