Incorporatewear were awarded the contract to supply M&S uniform at the end of 2013.
As a retailer of clothing, Marks and Spencer operate an experienced procurement team who understand the importance of staff clothing as both a way of making their staff feel proud of their appearance, and the positive effect of the uniform as an extension of their brand for customer engagement.
Prior to being acquired by Incorporatewear, M&S had been with their incumbent supplier for 15 years and conducted a detailed tender process with obvious concern over the core aspect of transitioning their business in the event that they identified a more suitable supplier. The result of the tender saw Incorporatewear appointed as the official uniform supplier to M&S based upon the following services:

- The easy availability of detailed management information
- Design creativity and innovative fabric development
- The open approach to business relationships in the senior management team
Speed Response and Transition
Incorporatewear were initially given 9 months for the uniform contract transition period, however due to external factors this timescale was reduced to under just 2 months. M&S needed ICW to develop an alternative transition plan that would maintain the scheduled supply, avoid disruption to stores over Christmas, their busiest period, and include a full transition of data, stock and ordering solutions.
Despite this time scale being drastically reduced, ICW rose to the challenge and with the flexibility of our supply base and the proactive approach of the senior management team we started out from day one to deliver a workable solution, not just fixing the problem but combining the opportunity to ensure we started establishing an improved service provision, by enhancing the garment range, identifying cost savings and improving service deliverables to M&S management and the staff via our online ordering portal.
