EasyJet jet off to our factories in Portugal!

Michelle Philpot, Gavin Lawrence and Rebecca Marlow, from our customer EasyJet flew out to Portugal to visit our offshore factories.

They had never been to any of our factories before so were excited at the prospect of seeing garment manufacture in action. The reason for EasyJet visiting now was that the production of their uniform tailoring has this year been moved to Portugal instead of our far-shore manufacturers in Asia. We were also starting production of their new uniform rollout so it was an opportunity for them to see these new garments being developed from scratch.

Michelle, Cabin Services Customer and Standards Manager at EasyJet, explained that she didn’t know what to expect when visiting the factories but she was surprised to see how labour intensive the production was and it helped her understand the whole process much better. Many of the garments made in Portugal are sewn manually rather than solely by a machine. Gavin from EasyJet even got involved with a bit of sewing! (see picture below).

The team were particularly grateful to Martin (the manager of our Portugal site) and the team who, Michelle explained were very hospitable and treated them extremely well during their visit.
And did they find the trip useful?..

“Absolutely! My team and I got so much out of the trip, it was really exciting seeing the factories producing our garments” Michelle, EasyJet
